Immersive Media and User Experience (IMUE) accepts original research articles, review articles, and other scholarly contributions relevant to its scope.
- Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the study. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
If the manuscript is authored by more than one author, one of the authors should be designated as the corresponding author, who will be responsible for all communication with Immersive Media and User Experience (IMUE) and for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the manuscript and its submission.
Contributions that do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section.
- Publication Ethics
- Originality and Plagiarism
Submitted manuscripts must be original and properly cite all sources. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct are strictly prohibited.
- Conflict of Interest
In accordance with COPE guidelines, all authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest under a “Conflict of Interest” section in their manuscript.
If no conflicts exist, authors should state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest regarding the research, authorship, and publication of this article.”
- Ethical Approval
Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and include details of ethics approval where required.

- Manuscript Preparation
- Language
Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise English.
- File Format
Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
- Length
The manuscript length should be appropriate to the nature and scope of the research.
- Structure of Research Articles
Research articles should normally contain the following sections:
Title
Author Names and Affiliations
Corresponding Author Information
Abstract
Keywords
Introduction
Materials and Methods
Results
Discussion
Conclusion
Author Contributions
Funding
Conflict of Interest
Acknowledgements
References
Appendices (if applicable)
Supplementary Material (if applicable)
- Title
The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.
- Abstract
The abstract should summarize the objectives, methodology, key findings, and conclusions of the study. It should generally be between 250–300 words and clearly highlight the novelty and significance of the work. It should have no sub-headings.
- Keywords
Provide 5–8 keywords that accurately describe the subject matter and improve discoverability of the article.
- Introduction
The Introduction section should include the background and aims of the research comprehensively.
If abbreviations are used in the text, these should either be specified in the text where first used, or the author should provide a complete list of abbreviations after the Main text.
Review articles should begin with a general overview of the field, followed by a comprehensive discussion of significant previous and current reviews in the area. Authors may partition the text further in appropriate subheadings according to the fields to be explained. They should then highlight and analyze notable features of recent developments. Authors should avoid simply reproducing material covered in earlier reviews; instead, they are encouraged to present and discuss their own critical insights and observations.
- Materials and Methods
This section provides details of the methodology used along with information on any previous efforts with corresponding references. The author should include any details for further modifications and research. Sufficient information should be provided to the reader about the original data source to enable the analysis, appropriateness, and verification of the results reported in the study.
The Method Section needs to be sufficiently detailed regarding the data presented and the results produced from it. This section should include all the information and protocol gathered for the study when it was being communicated. If materials for the research were funded or financially supported by an organization to conduct the research, it should be mentioned in the Method Section. If human participants are involved in the study, obtaining of informed consent must be mentioned in this section. Methods must be result-oriented. If the study required approval by an independent local, regional or national review committee (e.g., the ethics committee and institutional review board) the appropriate statement regarding this approval should be a part of the Methods Section.
- Results
The essential and main findings of the study should come first in the Results Section. The tables, figures, and references should be given in sequence to emphasize the vital information or observations related to the research. The author should avoid the repetition in the text of data already presented in tables and figures. Results should be precise.
- Discussion
The author should explore the significance of the results of the work. The author should avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature. Limitations of the research study should be mentioned at the end of this section or as a separate heading after this section.
The Results and discussions may be presented separately or combined in a single section with short and informational headings.
- Conclusion
The author may give a small paragraph summarizing the article’s contents, presenting the research outcome, or proposing further study on the subject at the end of the article under the Conclusion section.
- Author Contributions:
Authors must provide a statement describing each author's contribution to the work. Contributions may include: Conceptualization, Methodology, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Software Development, Project Administration, Supervision, Funding Acquisition, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review and Editing.
- Acknowledgements (if any):
Acknowledging anyone (individual/company/institution) who has considerably contributed to the research or review study but does not fulfill authorship criteria is an ethical responsibility of authors and Immersive Media and User Experience (IMUE) encourages that they must be mentioned properly at the end of the article.
- References
References must be complete, accurate, and formatted according to the APA/ASA style of referencing.
Authors should cite relevant primary sources and avoid excessive self-citation (not exceeding 10%). References cited in the text must appear in the reference list and vice versa.
- Appendices (if applicable)
If article contains essential supporting details that are part of the article but too lengthy and readers may need to consult it to fully evaluate or reproduce the study (e.g., Detailed methodology, extended theoretical explanations, additional proofs, lengthy tables, interview protocols, survey instruments, coding schemes) these may be included at the end of the article after reference. Appendices should be labeled Appendix A, Appendix B, etc.
- Supplementary Material
Extra datasets, videos, audio files, large datasets, additional analyses, extended tables/figures, software code, raw materials, software, or supporting materials that provide additional information to enhance the article but is not necessary to understand the main study may be submitted separately as supplementary files and should be appropriately cited within the manuscript(e.g., Supplementary Table S1," etc.). These will be published separately online with the article.
- Headings and Numbering
Use clear section headings and subheadings. Up to three levels of numbering may be used (e.g., 1, 1.1, 1.1.1).
- Figures and Tables
Figures and tables must be clear, high-quality, and cited in the text in numerical order. These may be included as embedded in the text of the article or provided separately (in this case their appropriate cite of placement in the manuscript should be mentioned in the text).
- Figures
Number figures consecutively.
Provide descriptive captions for all individual figures.
Acceptable formats include PDF, TIFF, JPEG, PPT, and Word.
All symbols and abbreviations should be explained in the figure legend.
- Tables
Number tables consecutively.
Provide a concise title for each table.
Ensure tables are editable and submitted in Word or Excel format.

ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES:
Immersive Media and User Experience publishes all articles under an Open Access model, allowing readers worldwide to access, read, and use published content without financial or technical barriers. To support this model, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of GBP 350 is required only after a manuscript has been formally accepted. No fees are charged at the time of submission or during the peer review process.
The APC is used to meet the ongoing costs associated with producing and disseminating high-quality scholarly content. These include the administration of editorial workflows, management of peer review, language editing and formatting, digital publication and hosting, permanent archiving, DOI assignment, maintenance of the journal’s publishing infrastructure, remuneration of editorial and administrative personnel, and routine office and operational expenses.
Authors may remit the APC via Debit/Credit Card or Bank Transfer. For payments made by bank transfer, the total amount payable is GBP 350, which covers standard bank processing fees.
This model ensures the journal’s operational stability, supports ethical and rigorous publishing practices, and enhances the global reach and long-term availability of published research.
