Editorial Responsibilities

Editorial Board Composition, Recruitment, and Responsibilities Policy

Purpose:

Immersive Media and User Experience (IMUE) is committed to appointing a qualified, diverse, and internationally recognised Editorial Board that provides academic leadership, maintains editorial quality, promotes ethical publishing, and enhances the Journal's visibility and reputation. Editorial appointments are based on academic excellence, professional integrity, editorial experience, and expertise relevant to the Journal's scope.

Editorial Structure:

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief provides the Journal's academic and strategic leadership, oversees editorial policies, safeguards research integrity, supervises the peer-review process, makes final publication decisions, and represents the IMUE within the international research community.

Deputy Editor

The Deputy Editor assists the Editor-in-Chief in managing editorial operations, supervising manuscript handling, coordinating peer review, maintaining publication standards, resolving editorial issues, and acting on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief when required.

Associate Editors

Associate Editors manage assigned manuscripts, select reviewers, evaluate peer-review reports, recommend editorial decisions, ensure compliance with editorial policies, and support the Journal's academic development.

Editorial Board Members

Editorial Board members advise the IMUE on academic matters, undertake peer review, recommend reviewers, promote the Journal, encourage high-quality submissions, contribute to editorial initiatives and Special Issues, and uphold the highest standards of publication ethics and confidentiality.

Editorial Recruitment Workflow:

Editorial Board members are recruited through a transparent, merit-based process. Candidates may be identified through their research achievements, editorial experience, reviewer performance, publication record, recommendations from the Editorial Board, or recognised leadership within the discipline. Appointments are made following evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief, with consultation where appropriate.

Selection Criteria:

Appointments are based on scholarly excellence, recognised expertise, publication record, editorial or peer-review experience, professional reputation, commitment to publication ethics, willingness to contribute actively to the Journal, and the need to maintain geographical, institutional, disciplinary, and gender diversity.

Appointment and Terms of Service:

Editorial appointments are made by invitation and are honorary and voluntary unless otherwise specified. Before appointment, prospective members receive information describing their responsibilities, the Journal's editorial policies, and ethical expectations. Editorial Board membership is reviewed periodically to ensure continued engagement and effective contribution to the IMUE's long-term development.
